PA Players bear fangs for ‘Dracula: The Musical?’

The Count is coming to Port Angeles for a show unlike any other starting this weekend.

The Port Angeles Community players present “Dracula: The Musical?” by Rick Abbot and directed by Mark Lorentzen starting Friday, April 28, at 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. April 28-29, May 2, 5-6, 9, 12-13, and at 2 p.m. April 30, May 7 and 14.

“Dracula: The Musical?” is a spoof of the classic tale, which Lorentzen said is “one of the most hilarious shows I’ve ever experienced. On top of that, it’s actually a really good musical!”

The cast includes Mindy Gelder as Nellie Norton, Luci Barrera as Mina Seward, Nicholas Fazio as Dr. Sam Seward, Anna Pederson as Bubu Padoop, Ken Winters as Boris Renfield, Benjamin Heintz as Dr. Van Helsing, Lydia Wilhelm as Sophie Seward and Jeremy Pederson as Count Dracula.

“Abbot, who is known for writing farce, has brilliantly turned and twisted the story we all know into a little gem of a musical that has it all — a toe tapping score, romance, terror, wit and laughter,” Lorentzen said.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $8 for students and children, and on Tuesdays seats may be reserved in advanced for the regular price, or unsold seats will be $8 at the door.

Purchase tickets at www.pacommunityplayers.com, or Stage Right Vintage, 106 N. Laurel St., Port Angeles. The play is child-friendly. For more information, call 452-6651.
