PAFAC to host online ‘happy hour’ with artists, curator

Get ready for “happy hour” — virtually — at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. The arts center continue its virtual arts programming at 5 p.m. Friday, May 8, with an online “happy hour” to discuss the center’s current exhibit, “Earth: An Abstract.”

Artists Annie Robinson, Christopher Mathie and Jan Dove will join Sarah Jane, the center’s gallery and program director, for a discussion about the exhibit. Participants are encouraged to pour a favorite beverage and join the conversation that will include topics such as the relationship between art and the environment, why each artist has chosen to work in abstraction, and how the coronavirus situation has impacted their creative practice.

The event will include time for participants to ask questions and join in the conversation.

The event is $10/person and space is limited; register in advance at pafac.org (after registering, participants will receive an email link to join the online event).

“Earth: An Abstract” features 50 abstract artworks honoring the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. A full gallery of artwork, including a video curatorial talk and online sales information, are available on the center’s website, where visitors will also find more virtual program offerings for children and adults.
