Peninsula College sets full slate of events for Earth Week 2018

A week of activities to bring environmental awareness to students at Peninsula College is the focus of the Associated Student Council’s Earth Week 2018.

Events began Tuesday, April 17, and runs through Monday, April 23.

On Wednesday, April 18, students can swing by the PUB between 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. to take a quick quiz to learn about their carbon footprint. Those who take the quiz will be treated to free pizza.

On Thursday, April 19, students are encouraged to leave their cars at home; it’s “Alternative Transportation Day” — when students who walk, ride a bike, take the bus, or car pool, can take a selfie of their mode of transportation and stop by the ASC office where they can show that selfie to earn a snack.

A cake walk is planned for Friday, April 20, at 11:30 a.m. in the PUB, where students who participate will have a chance to win environmentally-friendly prizes.

Peninsula students are encouraged to participate in community Earth Day events over the weekend as well. One popular option is the Washington Coast Savers Beach Clean-up. Students can register at www.coastsavers.org/index.php/volunteer for the event.

Earth Week 2018 will conclude with a clean-up effort at the Peninsula College Arboretum, starting at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 23. Students are invited to join staff and faculty at the east side of campus to spruce up the arboretum. The ASC plans to provide pizza for the workers.
