The Co-Op, at 216 E. Washington St., was selected for to receive the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Flag of the United States certificate for correct usage of the U.S flag, for “repeatedly demonstrating how to keep the flag flying and protect it continuously under all conditions.”

The local honor was awarded on Flag Day, June 14, 245 years after the day U.S. leaders approved its first national flag.

President Harry Truman in 1949 signed a bill officially recognizing June 14 as Flag Day.
