PHOTO: Olympic Peninsula Academy’s eyes on the future By Michael Dashiell • March 27, 2019 1:30 am For the first time, Olympic Peninsula Academy students put two entries in the Future City Competition this year, with teams competing at the regional event at Shoreline Community College in January. Future City is a project-based learning program where students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades imagine, research, design and build cities of the future. OPA students started on their projects the first week of school and event through their winter break, focusing on the theme of building a resilient future city power grid able to withstand a major earthquake. OPA earned the regional award for Best Land Surveying Practices, an honor sponsored by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
