The Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund announced recently the awarding of several academic scholarships and medically-related grants to be awarded in 2023.

The benefit fund was formed in 1995 when Regence BlueShield joined with Clallam County Physicians Service, Inc., a company formed by local physicians to provide health care coverage to Clallam County residents.

The 2022-23 academic scholarships go to Brianna Cowan, $4,000; Reece Moody and Bailey Powers, $3,000; and, Shannon Gordon, Misti Reed and Rikki Weaver, $2,000.

The2023 grant awards go to: Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, $5,357, to buy EverFlo oxygen concentrators and Drive Medical Gravity foam mattresses; Concerned Citizens, $5,000, to but a Generac generator and propane; Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue, $4,361.66, to purchase a FERNO EZ Glide Stair Chair, Port Angeles Education Foundation, $1,500, to provide vision care, including eye exams and frames with lenses, and First Step Family Support Center, $1,000, to purchase cribs.
