The Port Angeles Library will be accepting entries for the 2014 High School Poetry SLAM through March 25.

Any student in grades 9-12 can enter up to three poems and be eligible for prizes consisting of a tablet, an iPod Shuffle and $50 in gift certificates to local bookstores.

Poems must be the student’s original work. Total length of all poems submitted cannot exceed 60 lines. Entry forms may be obtained on the NOLS website or from library staffers, and must be returned with the poems by 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 25.

To be considered for prizes, entrants must perform their poetry for the judges at the Poetry SLAM at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Port Angeles Library. Poems may be read or recited from memory.
