From Aug. 3-27, the Sequim Museum and Art Center presents a photographic exhibition by Witta Priester. In addition, the exhibit will include ceramic and glass art by Jeff Becker.
All artwork will be for sale, with 50 percent of proceeds going to charity.
In her show, Priester offers a sweep of images that demonstrate her joy of experimentation and search for the extraordinary, where she often converts realistic photographs into more expressive images. Her original photos are catalysts that initiate a second creative process, where the photographs are modified, added to, built upon and enhanced. The final print, a tapestry of image combined with fancy, is a culmination of interactions between what she sees, feels and imagines.
These diverse images reflect a hopeful, optimistic, upbeat worldview. They are intended as a respite from the all-too-often sad, fearful, horrific news of the world.
An opening reception is set for Sequim’s First Friday from 5-8 p.m., Aug. 5, at the Sequim Museum and Art Center, 175 W. Cedar St.
