Three blocks of hot rods, cool cars, and sweet motorcycles are set to appear at the eighth-annual Sequim Prairie Nights this weekend from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.
Organizers hope to bring in even more vehicles to downtown Sequim by expanding parking for registered vehicles. The free, family-friendly event hosted 165 registered vehicles last year parked along Washington Street from Sequim Avenue to Third Avenue.
Those looking to register should do so early at sequimprairienights.org, as space is limited. Parking begins the day of the event starting at 7:30 a.m. The show continues to be open to all street rods, hot rods, classics, muscle cars, trucks and vintage motorcycles.
One of the returning highlights is Tri-Mac Speedsters George and Alan McMurray, both of Sequim. The Bonneville Speed Week participants return to the show to park in front of A-1 Auto, a show sponsor.
All vehicle entrants receive a Sequim Prairie Nights commemorative hat and dash plaque. Participants are also asked to bring unopened jars of peanut butter for the Price Ford Peanut Butter Drive.
Event organizers also host several raffles throughout the day with proceeds supporting scholarships for local high school graduates going into vocational trades. This year, Max Frankfurth (lineman) and Simon Scribner (carpentry) each received $1,000.
After the show, vehicles are encouraged to participate in a short vehicle tour of Sequim that ends at a local barn with refreshments.
