Radio forum to focus on telebehavioral health

Dr. Joshua Jones, the medical director for the Providence-St. Joseph Health System, will present Telebehavioral Health & You! What you should know about new ways of providing mental health care” — a free WOW! Working on Wellness Radio Forum set for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, on KSQM 91.5 FM.

Telebehavioral health is the use of telecommunication or videoconferencing technology to provide mental health services. Many physicians say telehealth is just as effective as in-person care for certain behavioral health conditions.

Jones joined Olympic Medical Center’s physician division as Chief Physicians Officer in the fall of 2016. He is a board-certified general and forensic psychiatrist and a well-established physician in Clallam County. He came to Olympic Medical Physicians after serving for six years as medical director at Peninsula Behavioral Health.

WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic — Sequim’s free clinic. The Clinic provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members. The work is supported by more than 70 volunteers, including physicians, other professional health care providers and laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond.

The Basic Urgent Care Clinic is open to patients on Mondays and Thursdays beginning at 4:30 p.m. Individuals interested in supporting the clinic may call 360-582-0218.
