Nonprofit bird rescue groups are visiting Wild Birds Unlimited during Lavender Weekend

Celebrate lavender with the Raptors of Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue and the Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center at Wild Birds Unlimited, 275953 U.S. Hwy. 101 in Gardiner on Saturday, July 18.

Jaye and Gary Moore from the Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center and Cindy and Connor Daily from Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue, both 501© nonprofit organizations, bring with them live birds of prey that have been rehabilitated for viewing and discussion from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center has been working on the peninsula for the past 30 years and is dedicated to the rehabilitation of local wildlife and to the education of the public about this resource in the community.

The Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue is directed by Cynthia Daily, a state and federally licensed rehabilitator.

The centers are seeking donations of paper towels, tissues, potty pads (human or puppy) laundry baskets, heating pads, small dishes like crocks or ashtrays, Exact Baby Bird food, mealworms, dog or cat food (wet or dry), towels, new or gently used wool blankets, vet wrap, clothespins, bleach, Dawn dish soap, hair dryers, playpens and monetary donations.

Donations may be dropped off at Wild Birds Unlimited or the centers themselves.
