Local libraries, library supporters and Wind Rose Cellars are teaming up with a unique blend this fall.

Book and wine fans are invited to a release party of the newest edition of Library REaD wine, set for 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Wind Rose Cellars wine bar, 143 W. Washington St. Join other library supporters for a complimentary taste of the wine and special prices on curated food pairings.

Produced and bottled by Wind Rose Cellars, this 2016 vintage is crafted from 85 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 15 percent Malbec, sourced from Lonesome Spring Ranch in the Yakima Valley.

A joint venture of Wind Rose Cellars, the North Olympic Library Foundation, Port Townsend Public Library Foundation, and Friends of the Jefferson County Library, sales of Library REaD go to support library services for all three libraries.

At the release party, information will be available about the libraries, and Library REaD will be available for purchase by the bottle or the case.

“On the palate, this full body red wine has fruit flavors of dried fig and Medjool dates,” says winemaker David Volmut. “Hints of coffee and mocha give the wine a finish of black tea.”

It will pair nicely, he said, with hearty dishes, barbecue and grilled meat.
