The Clallam/Jefferson Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is recruiting volunteers for services in Clallam County.
In Sequim, volunteers are sought to distribute 30-pound Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) food boxes from the Sequim Food Bank to registered CSFP clients of the program each Thursday, 9-11 a.m.
In Port Angeles on Thursdays, RSVP is seeking volunteers to deliver meals to seniors (9-11:30 a.m.) and deliver 30-pound CSFP food boxes to homes (9-11 a.m.), and on Thursdays and Fridays to serve as a congregate meals receptionist at the Port Angeles Senior Center (2:30-5 p.m.).
In addition, Port Angeles-area volunteers are needed to support the Encore program, one that cares for adult individuals with Alzheimer’s so that their caregivers can receive respite time.
This program is currently directed by a board-certified music therapist and is offered from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Those with music or art abilities and would like to help care for adult individuals are encouraged to apply.
In Forks, volunteers are needed to deliver 30-pound CSFP food boxes to homes one Wednesday per month, 9-11 a.m.
(Note: CSFP is a program providing monthly supplemental food to low-income seniors. Food boxes include shelf-stable nutritious foods including vegetables, fruit, juice, cereal, protein, shelf stable milk and cheese. Requirements to qualify are that persons must be 60 or older, live in Clallam County or North Jefferson County, and have a combined monthly income not exceeding 130 percent of the poverty level.)
