Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Gathr Films, a new platform for crowd-sourced cinema, hopes to bring “Open Sesame: The Story of Seeds” to the North Olympic Peninsula.

The documentary, directed by award-winning filmmaker Sean Kaminsky, looks at the challenges that face seeds and the food supply. It features figures in the sustainable food movement such as Vandana Shiva, Bill McDorman and Port Townsend’s Micaela Dillon and John Navazio of the Organic Seed Alliance.

For the film to be shown at Deer Park Cinema at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at least 44 people must sign up for advance tickets by April 13. No credit cards are charged until the goal of 44 participants is reached. If enough seats are sold, Kaminsky will participate in a Q & A.
