Sequim Arts recognizes student artists

On March 7, the reception and awards ceremony was held for the 21st Student Art Show hosted by The Landing in Port Angeles and sponsored by Sequim Arts.

On March 7, the reception and awards ceremony was held for the 21st Student Art Show hosted by The Landing in Port Angeles and sponsored by Sequim Arts.

Awards were presented by Tuttie Peetz, president of the Olympic Driftwood Sculptors; Kendra Donelson, secretary of the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society; Vanessa Fuller, administrative services and development manager of the Dungeness River Audubon Center; and Maryann Proctor, president of Sequim Arts. Chairman of the event was Steve Edison with help from Linda Stadtmiller from Sequim Arts. Carol Janda judged the contest.

Awards were presented for first-, second- and third-place winners as well as some honorable mentions by the four organizations. Best in Division was awarded to middle school student Enya Griffin for “Atmospheric Olympics” and Best in Division was awarded to high school student Aubree Young for “One With Nature.”

 

Sequim Arts thanks the Olympic Driftwood Sculptors, the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society and the Dungeness River Audubon Center who have worked with Sequim Arts on the Student Art Show for several years. Sequim Arts also would like to thank the following businesses for contributions to the students:
