The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce Merchants Group seeks artists interested in creating a Downtown Fun Walking Map.
The concept of the map is to have a fun, whimsical and artistic representation of the downtown core shopping area to share with tourists.
It is envisioned that the final map will include the following:
• Ultimate design: 8.5 inches by 11 inches
• Project area to be included: Core area of Sequim’s downtown
East to west: Washington Street from Sunnyside to Third avenues
North to Alder Street; South to include Bell Street
To be considered for the development of the map, the chamber requests a sample of artwork representing the following area: The intersection of Sequim Avenue/Washington Street incorporating the corners — Garden Bistro, Over the Fence, Bank of America Park, Cole’s Jewelers, U.S. Bank, Pacific Mist Books and the Hurricane Coffee plaza.
The sample should be in full color and reflect a sampling of building facades, street names, signage, lighting, pedestrians and directional signs or information.
Samples are due to Shelli Robb-Kahler, Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce executive director, by 5 p.m. Friday, May 27.
Drop off your sample at the chamber’s visitor center at 1192 E. Washington St., or submit it electronically to shelli@sequimchamber.com.
All submittals must contain:
• Name and address as well as contact information (phone and e-mail address)
• A bid amount for the complete project, which will include the ultimate design of the 8.5-inch by 11-inch product of the project area described above.
The chamber anticipates selecting the final artist by the second week in June. The artist chosen will be notified immediately. Submitting artists must be available to meet the following milestones:
• Draft map of full project area to selection committee due by June 30
• Final product due on July 15.
The selected artist will receive additional input and guidelines regarding the creation of the final map, as well as recognition of his or her work. For more information, call Liz Harper at 683-7698 or e-mail lizbetharper@hotmail.com.
