Sequim Adventist Church offers a free meal and a fun, Vacation Bible School-like program for youths of ages 4-12, starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the church, 30 Sanford Lane.
Rocky Railway Kids Night provides dinner for the children, followed by an action-packed evening of fun led by the church’s youth. Parents can go enjoy a three-hour date night out with help from a free $10 restaurant voucher.
Fourteen teens from the church are preparing the program for community children on one Saturday night each month; future dates include Dec. 11, Feb. 5, March 5 and April 2. The evening runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and features songs, stories, active games, crafts and model railroading.
Each teen is assigned an adult mentor to be “in the room” for feedback and direction as the teen gains skill in leading younger children. In keeping with the railway theme, the teens will help community kids operate a HO-scale model railway. Children younger than 6 will operate a wooden Brio train as well as observe the electric railway.
