The Sequim City Band will offer an array of concert band repertoire for its last concert of the summer.

On Sunday, at 3 p.m. Sept. 13 the band will perform under the direction of Tyler Benedict in the James Center for the Performing Arts. Bring lawn chairs, sun and or rain protection.

Opening the program will be “March of the Mitten Men” by the march king John Philip Sousa. Jared Spear’s “At a Dixieland Funeral” presents New Orleans-style jazz and showcases four of the band’s talented soloists.

“Clarinet Candy” is written by the master of entertaining program music, Leroy Anderson. The band will rock out with “Rolling Stones on Tour” featuring “Paint It Black,” “Ruby Tuesday” and “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction.”

“Buffalo Dances” by Robert W. Smith combines Native American melodies with rhythmic, dancelike figures that portray a diverse and beautiful landscape.

“Colonel Bogey’s March” by Kenneth Alford is a popular march written in 1914 for a military golfer that used to whistle a two-note phrase.

A fitting end to the concert is “Curtain Call” by John Wasson. This is a tribute to all great finales and encores and is a perfect flag waving closer for the end of summer concert.
