Sequim City Band to kick off summer concert schedule Sunday

The Sequim City Band kicks-off its 2024 Summer Season with “Mountains to Shore,” starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, at the James Center for the Performing Arts, on the northern end of Carrie Blake Community Park.

In kicking off the 33rd season of providing free summer concerts for the community, the band will have a special guest, the Olympic Peninsula Ukulele Strummers, open the concert with a sing-a-long using well-beloved songs from the American Songbook.

The Sequim City Band has set a menu of music to delight the audience with pieces highlighting mountains and water, including a medley about rivers titled “American Riversongs” (including “Shenandoah”) and “Mount Everest” by Rosano Gallante.

Recognizing Cinco de Mayo, the band will perform Clifton Williams’ “Symphonic Dance No. 3: Fiesta.” In addition, the band will offer a rhythmic, driving performance “Stormbreak” featuring a large percussion section.

The concert is a part of Crazy Callen Weekend — the opening weekend of the 129th Sequim Irrigation Festival “2024 Mountains to Shore — Whatever You’re Looking For,” which entails a weekend filled with live music, food and beverage vendors, the Innovative Arts & Craft Fair, and Family Fun Days, all taking place at the park.
