Sequim kicks off Music and Movies in the Park

Sequim Gazette staff

Music and Movies in the Park begins its summer program on Tuesday, June 28, with music by Locus Street Taxi followed by a showing of the film “Cats and Dogs.”

The weekly program runs 10 weeks with 11 programs at the James Center for Performing Arts, 563 N. Rhodefer Road, north of Carrie Blake Park.

Music and Movies started in 2006 with funding from private donations and sponsors.

Councilors chose to save the program this year after donations continued to decline the past few years.

Funding for the program comes from a mixture of the city’s general fund, sewer fund, lodging taxes and donations. Participants can donate on site in boxes.
