Sequim Open Aire Market

Sequim Open Aire Market

The market is joyful! Get ready for the holidays.

What is new at the market? Local pork! You can purchase local pork by the cut. There are some gorgeous hams that would bless your holiday table. There also is fantastic sausage that will stuff your turkey with local goodness plus luscious bacon and succulent pork ribs.

Have you ever had locally grown pork? Did you know it was possible to eat clean, healthy, locally raised meat? Well, I am here to tell you that it is possible and you can find it at the market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Now more than ever we have local options! We have options to reduce our carbon footprint. With food transportation being one of the greatest users of our precious resource oil, it is amazing we can reduce our use from about 1,200 miles to more like 3 miles when we purchase locally grown food. This has a global impact.

When we reduce our reliance on oil transporting food thousands of miles, from China and Chile, what happens? What would happen if we didn’t need so much oil from other countries? Might there be less conflict in the world? Ahhh, come down and get your squash, rutabaga, onions, kale, garlic and celery. Harvest the bounty of Sequim!

Hot, hot pizza fresh from the oven is awaiting you. Who wants to cook when you can have pizza for dinner? Every Wednesday and Saturday you can find David Johnson and H. John Bridger keeping it local with the toppings on their fabulous pizza.

Don’t forget to think local for holiday gifts. There is a variety of incredibly high quality crafts at the market each week.

As always, we are so grateful for your participation in your local market; keep it local!

Lisa Bridge is the market manager.
