Sequim open aire market
What’s new at the market is what is new on your Thanksgiving table this week. This is your chance to adorn the holiday table with local beauty.
The gifts of Mother Nature still are abundant: Fill your oven with roasting potatoes, beets, carrots, turnips, garlic and celeriac*. The stuffing really could use some pork sausage from Nash’s Organic Produce to make it extra special and Johnston Farm has luscious celery and herbs to sass it up. There also are plenty of fresh greens to make a colorful salad or other fresh vegetable dish. Come down on Wednesday and fill your canvas bags with loads of fresh local produce to cook the peninsula’s harvest for your family.
* Celeriac is a root vegetable with a strong celery flavor that goes fabulously in a roast, stew or soup.
The gift season is also on your mind? The Saturday market is a great place to shop for unique handmade gifts. When you buy at the market, be assured that you are buying the product directly from the artist or artisan who made it. Thus each product comes with a story. Bring your family downtown on Saturday for a stroll through the market and see what catches your eye or the eye of someone you are shopping for.
The market closes at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays due to the time change and wintery coolness.
See you at the market!
