Sequim School District’s transportation department scores well on inspection

A review of the Sequim School District’s transportation got high marks, prompting a letter to the district from Chris Reykdal, Washington’s Superintendent of Public Instruction.

“After reviewing the results of the recent Washington State Patrol annual inspection, we recognize that your school district has again completed the inspection of school buses with exceptional results,” the letter read. “For the past two years, the results in your district have been outstanding. We congratulate you, your administration and the staff of your transportation department for these outstanding school bus inspection results. We look forward to your continuing support of student transportation safety. Keep up the good work.”

Jeff Gossage, the district’s transportation director, said, “We’ve got a really good team up there.”

Sequim schools superintendent Gary Neal gave kudos to the department.

“Our Transportation Department has the huge responsibility of transporting students safely to and from our buildings each school day,” Neal said. “For several years in a row, they have passed the WSP inspection with no findings and it is much deserved that they received this acknowledgement from the state superintendent.”
