Sequim Soroptimists seek applicants for award

Soroptimist International of Sequim is holding its annual Youth Community Service Award competition for young women who make the world a better place through their volunteer efforts that benefit women and girls.

The first place winner gets a $250 award and $250 goes to a charity of their choice. The second place winner gets a $250 award.

Winners are recognized and presented their monetary awards at a Soroptimist breakfast meeting in January.

Applicants must be female between 14-18 years of age, attend a public, private or home school within the Sequim School District, and submit an application (which includes a 750-word maximum essay describing their volunteer activities) by Nov. 30.
