The Sequim Sunshine Festival, slated for March 6-7, will feature a choreographed illuminated drone show, city officials said last week.
The show is set for 6:45 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Carrie Blake Community Park.
The City of Sequim has contracted with Firefly Drone Shows from Waterford, Mich., to provide a 100 drone, 15-minute presentation.
The show launches from the Blake Tile and Stone property just south of the park. A clearly marked safety zone around the launch area, as required by the Federal Aviation Administration, will be established prior to the event.
City representatives ask that show attendees stay clear of the area.
The show will take place at an approximate 400-foot elevation and is best viewed from a distance, city representatives said.
Viewers are encouraged to watch from Carrie Blake Community Park or from the hills to the south of the park.
A pre-show party is set for 5 p.m. at the park’s picnic shelter with music from“Just in Tyme, a special light exhibit, wine garden provided by Wind Rose Cellars, food truck and games.
The illuminated drone show is funded through Lodging Tax funds, mandated by Washington state to be used for “tourism promotion, marketing and tourism related events and facilities,” city representatives said.
