SHS’s Nelson takes best of show in PC art competition

Sequim High School student Melia Nelson was awarded Best of Show in the 2024 Olympic Peninsula High School Art Exhibition, the school announced last week.

Nelson’s “Aglow in Poulsbo” took top honors. Fellow SHS student Kimberly Heintz earned an honorable mentionfor “Sadopus.”

The high school student art show ran April 10-25 in the PUB Gallery of Art at PC’s Port Angeles campus, with 58 works of art entered high school students who live on the Olympic Peninsula.

Hosted by PC’s College of Art and Multimedia Communications faculty, the annual art exhibition featured works in ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, video, digital photography, and collage. All entries were judged by the College of Art and Multimedia faculty.
