The Clallam County Genealogical Society (CCGS) hosts an Open House and Ice Cream Social from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, when community members are welcome to explore the interior and discover the events that take place in the CCGS research building at 403 E. Eight St.
The event will features special guests, with representatives from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the North Olympic History Center and Sequim Museum & Arts as well as local author Glynda Peterson Schaad on hand.
DAR members will share how to join their organization and an overview of their projects, history center representatives will introduce their online museum of early artifacts of Clallam County, and Sequim Museum & Arts representatives will talk about their The Boys in the Boat” and the Mastodon display, and about the early people of Clallam County. Schaad will bring her books about early pioneers and explain how she discovered their stories.
In addition, genealogists will be on hand to look up records of ancestors and answer questions attendees may have about DNA, census records and more, and they will demonstrate genealogical research and what the old records tell of the lives of previous generations.
Attendees are welcome to enjoy free ice cream and cookies.
