Stamp of honor: Sequim’s Osborne gets prestigeous philatelist award

The Strait Stamp Society announced last week that Sequim’s own Cathie Osborne won the Northwest Distinguished Philatelist Award at the large Portland stamp show, called PIPEX, in May.

Osborne was one of the original founders of the Strait Stamp Society more than 25 years ago; she helped organize the original Sequim Stamp Show in 1994 and has been heavily involved every year since.

Osborne has been active in submitting exhibits in national, regional and local shows and has won numerous awards for her exhibits which are mostly focused on bells on stamps.

In addition, the club as a whole won the prize at the same stamp show for the Best Club Exhibit. This award featured a silver cup of which the club gets to host for the next 12 months until next year’s show. The club exhibit was prepared by 15 members each presenting a single sheet with the theme of the letter H.

The Strait Stamp Society meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
