Students win essay awards

Every year, the Sequim Association of Realtors sponsors an Essay &Poster contest for third-grade students called, “What My Home Means to Me.” The students write an essay and draw a poster describing what their home means to them. The essays and posters are judged and the winners are awarded prizes.

All students receive a $25 Walmart gift card plus additional prizes: first-place essay, new bicycle/helmet; second-place essay, new Razor scooter/helmet; third-place essay, a Scrabble Junior Board game; and Best Poster; an art supply case.

The following winners received their awards and prizes at the April 26 Sequim Association of Realtors meeting.

Winning students from left (front row) are Emma Vose, Ellie Woodford, Laila Sundin, Kendra Dodson, Joe Giles, Liam Nielson, Ryan Stites and Hannah Colwill, with (back row) Gina Valaske, Joylena Owen, Kathi Larsen, Catherine Cote, Lani McCarry and Magan Waldron (some of the judges).

Congratulations to all who were selected and to all the students who participated. Judges said it was difficult to make their selections as all of the entries were outstanding.
