Now in its eighth year the Musical Theatre Intensive for Teens kicks off a two-week workshop for aspiring thespians aged 12-18 to explore acting, create music and dance numbers, and write original scenes.
The workshop, held at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., is set for 9:45 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, July 22-Aug. 2.
Enrollment is limited to 20 students, and there are still a few spaces available. Call OTA at 360-683-7326 to register or learn more online at olympictheatrearts.org.
Students will learn the basics of dance, how to act a song, explore character development and scene work, and gain confidence by taking part in an authentic mock audition, workshop organizers say. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about stage management, theatre etiquette and technical work. An informal showcase will be performed for invited guests at the end of the two-week session.
Previous participants have come from as far away as Juneau and Washington, D.C., organizers say.
Cost is $495, which includes all supplies and daily lunch catered by Pacific Pantry of Sequim.
The workshop director is Linda Dowdell; staff include Brendan Chambers, Maggie Bulkley and Jessica Reid; Bulkley, Chambers and Dowdell directed the recent Sequim High production of “Legally Blonde.”
