On Tuesday, July 31, Recess Monkey, a nationally known group of entertainers, is coming to the Port Angeles and Sequim libraries.
Performances are at 10:30 a.m. at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. (or, in the case of rain, at the Sequim Middle School cafeteria, 301 W. Hendrickson St.); and at 2 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
As heard on NPR, SiriusXM and Radio Disney, Recess Monkey is the celebrated trio of Seattle elementary school teachers who make music for children and families. It’s known for its prolific, diverse musical output and the high energy shows that get youngsters dancing and singing almost immediately. Recess Monkey’s newest album is the circus-themed “In Tents.”
Time Magazine lauded the group for its “tight, smart, acclaimed original songs … and seriously grooving funk.”
Members of Recess Monkey bring their teacher sensibilities to their performances, encouraging interactive and youth-centric fun.
Recess Monkey’s appearances are presented in conjunction with Dream Big, Read! — the North Olympic Library System’s annual Summer Reading program for young people of all ages, which runs through Saturday, Aug. 4, at all four NOLS libraries: Sequim, Port Angeles, Clallam Bay and Forks.
Besides enjoying books and reading, participants are eligible for prizes, including a grand prize.
Recess Monkey’s appearance is made possible through the support of the Port Angeles and Sequim Friends of the Library.
