The community is invited to come together to laugh at the Skwim Toastmasters’ “Laugh Out Loud” Humorous Showcase set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.
“We’ve all heard that laughter is good for you,” says Lindy MacLaine, the event’s coordinator. “We know that physically, it lowers stress hormones and boosts the immune system. We know it uplifts our mental health. Not everyone gives thought to how laughter benefits us as a community.”
Nine award-winning Toastmasters-trained humorous speakers will share the stage. Woven into the evening will be a small live auction to support Area Toastmasters Clubs.
The event is open to all — there is a $5 per person suggested donation at the door — but it will not be “policed.” RSVP at loltoast.eventbrite.org.
“In my Toastmasters Club, I’m getting the promised education in communication and leadership,” MacLaine says. “But the very best and most enduring thing is that we all laugh together—a lot. When I started envisioning the Laugh Out Loud event, the heart of it is to share laughing together with the whole community.”
Skwim Toastmasters is part of Toastmasters International, a worldwide nonprofit educational organization that “empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.”
The Sequim club meets every Tuesday from 7–8:30 p.m. at The Gathering Place in Sunland, 135 Fairway Dr. For more information about this event and the club, visit 907529.toastmastersclubs.org and www.facebook.com/SequimToastmasters.
