Whether you’re going as a princess, a superhero or an accompanying adult, there’s fun for all ages this Halloween and harvest season in Sequim.
Several events start this week with some requiring admission while others are free, so plan accordingly.
Through Oct. 30
• Boo Hunger Food Drive
Sequim High School leadership students place paper grocery bags starting this week on door steps in the Sequim community seeking non-perishable food donations for the Sequim Food Bank.
Organizers encourage participants to leave items next to your mailbox by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30 and students will pick up your donations. Needed items include: peanut butter, tuna, macaroni and cheese, low-sodium soup and beans and low-sugar cereal. Donations are also accepted at the Sequim Food Bank, 144 W. Alder St. Last year the food drive collected 8,400 pounds of food.
Through Oct. 31
• Pumpkin Patch with Peter Pan
The Pumpkin Patch, a 33-acre farm at the corner of U.S. Highway 101 and Kitchen-Dick Road, opens daily from noon-6 p.m. through Wednesday, Oct. 31, and features a “Peter Pan” theme this year in its corn maze designed by Amanda Lawton.
Entry to the maze costs $5 for all ages. U-pick pumpkins vary in cost depending on the size, type and style of pumpkin. The farm also offers a pumpkin shoot daily, fees apply, and a wagon ride on weekends. To schedule a field trip, call Theresa Lassila at 360-461-0940.
Saturday, Oct. 27
• High school hosts ‘Haunted Hallways’
Sequim High School’s annual Haunted Hallways event runs 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the high school’s H building, 601 N. Sequim Ave. Parents/guardians can bring children dressed in costumes for Halloween activities and fun. Sequim High choir is set to perform throughout. No admission is required. Sequim High’s ASB and campus clubs run the event. Costumes welcome.
• “Be-Witching’ tea set in PA
Soroptimist International of Port Angeles Jet-Set puts on the group’s annual “Be-Witching Tea” from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Naval Elks Lodge, 131 E. First St., Port Angeles.
The event includes a silent auction, food and “witches brew.” Costumes are encouraged but not required. Tickets are $35. The event is a fundraiser to support a scholarship program for 2019. For tickets, call 360-457-0545.
• Pumpkin party, fair at Grange
The Sequim Prairie Grange Pumpkin Party and Country Fair is set for 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Glenda Clark Memorial Kitchen behind the grange hall, 290 Macleay Road. The event features pumpkin carving and cookie decorating. The doors to the hall open at 4:30 p.m. for the Country Fair, with food, games (ring toss, darts, fishing pond, etc.), guessing games and a cake walk with food available for purchase in the kitchen. • Listen in for Howl-loween Speech marathon
Skwim Toastmasters Club hosts the “Howl-loween” Speech Marathon at the Sequim Branch Library Conference Room, 630 N Sequim Ave., from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. Reservations for this free event requested at HalloweenSpeeches.eventbrite.com. The evening features eight 5-7 minute speeches, and eight 2-3 minute evaluations. Refreshments will be served. • Bash at Boys and Girls Club
The Carroll C. Kendall Unit Boys and Girls Club in Sequim, 400 W. Fir St., hosts a Halloween Bash from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. Admission is $3 per person and includes a pizza, chips and soda dinner, tickets for games. The event features games, arts and crafts, a haunted house, costume contest, a scary movie showing, live DJ and cupcake walk. It is open to the public and all ages are welcome. • Costume contest at casino
7 Cedars Casino throws a Halloween party with musical guest Wild Child at 9 p.m. and a costume contest at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Club Seven, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, Blyn. Costume contest features $2,500 in cash prizes. No cover, guests must be 21 and over. The Rainforest Cafe features DJ OB1 at 9 p.m. for 18 and older.
Wednesday, Oct. 31
• Merchants offer candy downtown
Trick or treat with businesses downtown from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The free event, sponsored by the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce and Sequim Merchants, features business owners with a posted picture of a pumpkin in their window handing out treats to children.
• Faith Lutheran sets harvest event
Faith Lutheran Church, 382 W. Cedar St., Sequim, hosts a Harvest Happening from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Event includes free food, candy, games, a cake walk and crafts. Friendly costumes encouraged.
• Food for Fun at King’s Way
King’s Way Foursquare Church hosts “The Bash – Food for Fun” from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 1023 Kitchen-Dick Road. It features games, bounce houses, pony rides, a rock-climbing wall and more. Admission is a food donation which goes to the Sequim Food Bank. Hot dogs and snacks will be available for purchase. Friendly costumes are welcome.
