Trinity United Methodist Church welcomes new pastor

Rev. Desi Larson is the new pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

She replaces Rev. Joey Olson, who had served as interim pastor since Sept. 1, 2021.

Larson comes to Sequim from Ashton, Idaho, where she was pastor of Ashton Community United Methodist Church. Previously she had held pastorates at three churches in Maine.

Larson had a career in education prior to her ministry. After graduation from Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania, she spent 10 years in Bangladesh, where she was a high school art teacher. She then completed graduate work in adult education and community development at Cornell University in New York.

That led to 10 years on the faculty of the University of Southern Maine. When she completed a Master of Divinity degree at Boston University, Larson embarked on full-time ministry.

She has two adult children.
