There will also be a representative from the Veterans Administration at American Lake present to talk about in-home care and answer questions.

Sarge’s

Sarge’s Place is humming with activity now that summer is here, including Sarge’s Farmstand, which is selling fresh fruits, vegetables, drinks, etc.

Summer is when the maintenance projects happen, so they are needing money for interior paint, carpet and flooring. If you can help with the purchase of these items please send a check to “Sarge’s Place, 250 Ash Ave, Forks, WA 98331” and put a note: paint, carpet or flooring.

On June 20, I had the honor of being elected to the Board of Directors for Sarge’s Place. I believe in the efforts and mission and want to contribute to the success of the program. There will be several fundraisers in the fall that I will give you details on closer to the event. Thank you for your support.

Stand Down in PT

The Voices For Veterans Homeless Veterans Stand Down will be held at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Monday, July 29. All veterans are invited to come and get questions answered, have a hot breakfast or lunch, meet fellow veterans and learn more about the services available to you. I hope to see you there!

Caring for the bell

The design for the fence around the Liberty Bell replica at Veterans Park in Port Angeles has been approved and the process is underway to buy materials and get it constructed.

Many thanks to all of you who sent in donations to make this happen since the city had no money to fund it. You are always welcome at the bell ringing the last Friday of every month at 1 p.m. when the names of the military members who have passed the previous month are read and honored.
