Veterans Exhibit Opens

This U.S. military helmet shell — found by U.S. Marine Larry Klinefelter in 1965 in a ditch outside Da Nang, Vietnam — is among the artifacts featured in a new Vietnam veterans history exhibit that opens with a free public reception at 10 a.m. on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18, at the Museum & Arts Center’s Exhibit Center, 175 W. Cedar St. in Sequim. The exhibit includes military items and photographs loaned by Vietnam veterans, a Quilt of Valor by the Friendship Quilters and a new Olympic Peninsula Doll Club display of military dolls. Visit www.macsequim.org or call 683-8110 for details. A ceremony previously scheduled for 10 a.m. at the MAC’s outdoor Veterans Memorial, 544 N. Sequim Ave., has been canceled and the exhibit reception time moved up in its place. Photo by Angelina Reese
