VHOCC to host in-person remembrance ceremony

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) invites the community to its fourth-annual Remembrance Ceremony, scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake, Sequim.

The ceremony will include candle lighting and a group address.

The non-denominational ceremony provides families and friends an opportunity to honor and memorialize the loss of loved ones, event organizers said.

“Commemorating is part of the grieving process and remembrance ceremonies allow those who have experienced loss to come together and share memories of their loved one, VHOCC representatives said.

“All are welcome; one need not have an affiliation with hospice to attend and honor a loved one.”

Proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test will be required at the door. For those unable to provide these, a small number of rapid tests will be available on site from 1:30-1:45 p.m. However, anyone with symptoms should refrain from attending, regardless of vaccination status, organizers said; church safety guidelines require contact information at the door, masks to be worn inside and social distancing to be respected during the entire ceremony.
