Volunteer Hospice offers 6-week grief series

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County is offering a six-week grief support group, free of charge, from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesdays starting Sept. 8 and running through Oct. 13.

The group will meet online using Zoom, but enrollment is limited to allow for more sharing of feelings and experiences. A computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone with microphone and camera is necessary to take part in the group.

Register at 360-452-1511 with your name and email address no later than Friday, Sept. 3, to receive a link to the Zoom sessions.

Participants will be encouraged to discover their own strength and resilience in the face of loss through sharing and peer support in a safe and confidential space, program organizers say.

The group will be facilitated by Astrid Raffinpeyloz, Volunteer Services Manager and Bereavement Coordinator with Volunteer Hospice.

Personal experiences generated a lifelong interest in end of life and grief, eventually leading Raffinpeyloz to hospice work after completing a master’s in transpersonal psychology.

Since 1978 VHOCC has been providing free hospice services to patients and their families in Clallam County, from Diamond Point to Joyce. Part of VHOCC’s mission is “to offer grief support groups, not only to families of hospice patients, but to anyone in the community who has experienced the death of a loved one.”
