The brightness of yellow represents happiness, cheerful friendships and expressive enthusiasm, and empowers goodwill and justice. While the sun is still shining in the evening, grab your colorful parasol and promenade with your friends and family along the First Friday Art Walk path!

First Friday Art Walk Sequim is a fun and free self-guided tour of local art venues in

Sequim on the First Friday of every month from 5-8 p.m. Visit online at www.sequimartwalk.com as your resource to download and print your own map, find out what special events are happening, links, and how you can be part of art.

The group’s mission is to create approachable and accessible art and cultural venues that encourage the community to connect and celebrate expression and diversity.

Special events

• Sequim’s Sunshine Café at 145 W. Washington St. will provide a special secret menu of wonderful culinary treats. The great, late Tim Quinn’s art is on display. Try a hand at the unique as you affordable art machine while you are at Sunshine Café and for four quarters get an original button by Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond.

• Pacific Pantry is exhibiting fine art photography and greeting cards of Jan Kepley at 229 S. Sequim Ave. Resonance Cards is a line of greeting cards that uses gentle imagery to help you express feelings, emotions, thoughts and caring by Kay and Jan Kepley. They encourage people to use their cards to connect with others to thank them, hug them, appreciate them, celebrate them and in this small way make their day a little brighter.

• Visit Doodlebugs’ Creative Café Art Bar “Happy Hour” when people can create a project every Friday from 5-7 p.m. at 138 W. Washington St.

• Check out the new location of Sequim Spice and Tea at 121 W. Washington St. and try a sample of its unique teas and salts.

• Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St. Photographer Pam Walker and painter David Willis will showcase the Blue Whole Gallery’s front windows with their paintings and innovative photo art, expressing their love of nature and the surprises of summer. Meet the artists from 5-8 p.m.

• Colors of Sequim, 139 W. Washington St. Wood block artist Sallie Radock will be the featured artist for August. Meet her from 5-8 p.m.

• Gallery at the Fifth, 500 W. Hendrickson Road. August featured artists are Carol Yada and Kim McBride. Meet the artists from 5-8 p.m.

• Gallery on the Walls showcases Sally Cays and Patricia Taynton at 128 E. Washington St. inside the Sequim Vision Center.

• Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave. August’s “An Unusual Evening in Sequim” features Tweaking Reality, an improvisational group of actors. Free, 6:30 p.m. at OTA.

• Rainshadow Roasting Company, 157 W. Cedar St. Sample gourmet and exotic coffee brewed from beans roasted and ground on premises from 5-8 p.m.

• Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Pam Dick shows her fractal designs through August during normal business hours. Artist’s reception from 6-7 p.m.

• Sequim Museum & Arts Center, 175 W. Cedar St., seeks artists for its “Black and White” Show from Aug. 4-20. Hours are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. Artists’ reception on First Friday from 5-8 p.m.

• Sunshine Café, 145 W. Washington St. Works of the late Tim Quinn, a gifted local artist, will be shown open from 5-8 p.m.

• Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St. Local artists. Open to 9 p.m. on First Friday with wine tasting and late evening entertainment.

• Strait Financial Advice, 193 W. Cedar St. Scott Erickson exhibits his striking photographic scenes of the Southwest, Alaska, North Olympic Peninsula and other locations in the U.S. on a rotating basis.

• That Takes the Cake inspires sweetness with colorful cupcakes that are art at 171 W. Washington St.

• LARC Art Gallery, 425 E. Washington St. August’s featured artist is Jim Lyman. Meet the artist from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3.

• Heatherton Gallery, 115 Railroad Ave., Port Angeles. Features 36 artists in various mediums. Second Friday Art Walk, from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 8. Open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.
