Wellness Forum: “Yoga After 50: ‘Yin is In’ and Find Out Why”

Shelley Stratton, a registered nurse and certified yin yoga trainer, presents “Yoga After 50: ‘Yin is In’ and Find Out Why” — a free WOW! Working on Wellness forum entitled — at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 South Blake Ave., Sequim.

Practicing yin can provide relief by promoting healthy connective tissue and is the perfect complement to a busy life, program coordinators say.

Stratton is also a cancer exercise specialist, a personal trainer and the owner of Bodhi Tree Yoga Studio. She said the passion in life is to help bring better balance and wellness to all of her clients.

From 1:45-2:15 p.m. volunteer nurses from the Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic will be available to check the blood pressure of anyone who may be interested.

WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic, Sequim’s free clinic. The clinic provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members. Work is supported by more than 70 volunteers, including physicians, other professional health care providers and laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond.

The Basic Urgent Care Clinic is open to patients on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5 p.m. Individuals interested in supporting the clinic may call 360-582-0218.
