YMCA of Sequim sets spring break camp

Children of ages 6-11 are invited to “embark on new adventures and make friends as they learn about different countries around the world” at a Spring Break Camp set for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. daily, April 4-8, at the YMCA of Sequim, 610 N. Fifth Ave.

At the camp, children will explore the geography and culture of countries around the world through fun activities, arts and crafts, creative problem solving and teamwork, organizers said. There will also be time to play in the YMCA of Sequim pool each day.

“Camp is a great way for kids to stay engaged in learning while having fun and making friends,” YMCA of Sequim Branch Executive Gail Sumpter said.

Cost to attend camp is $200 per child, though scholarships are available to any child who would like to attend camp but needs a little extra help.

“We want Y programs like camp to be accessible to any child that wants to participate; that’s why we offer financial assistance to families,” Sumpter said.

To register for the camp, call the YMCA of Sequim at 360-477-4381 or visit the YMCA front desk. For more information, visit olympicpeninsulaymca.org/sequimdaycamp.

Summer camps set

The YMCA of Sequim is also offering three weeks of Summer Camp — July 11-15, Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 15-19 — and an Overnight Teen Camp June 29-30 at the Dungeness Recreation Area.

An announcement is coming soon about a nine-week long outdoor leadership program for teens that will include learning about the local environment and participating in hikes, organizers said. This program will be free thanks to a grant in cooperation with the City of Sequim.
