Rain halted flights last week at the 10th-annual Olympic Peninsula Air Affaire and Sequim Valley Fly-In, but organizer Emily Westcott said the event had a better turnout than expected.
About a dozen planes and classic cars were on display along with offerings of live music, food and vendors on Aug. 24 at the Sequim Valley Airport.
Keith Kossuth of Chino, Calif. visited to offer rides in his 1929 Travel Air, and said he’d try to offer rides the next day for those interested.
Captain Crystal Stout with the Dream Catcher Balloon nonprofit program that offers rides to veterans, people with mobility issues, and more, said she called off rides last week due to the poor weather.
For her tentative last event of the year, she’ll offer tethered rides from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Sequim Community Church, 1000 N. Fifth Ave. The event is in conjunction with The Lodge at Sherwood Village, with rides $25. RSVP by calling 360-681-3100.
Visitors said a plane ran over a runway sign early into this year’s Air Affaire.
