Board picks Horan for president

Heading into a new year, the Sequim School Board has new leadership.

On Monday night, the school board unanimously approved the nomination of Bev Horan to board president and Heather Jeffers, its newest board member, to board vice president. Horan succeeds board member John Bridge and Jeffers replaces Horan as vice president.

Jeffers was appointed to the board in August after Sarah Bedinger resigned in June.

In other school board actions, the board agreed to:

• offer a Sequim Middle School assistant football coach position to David Cowan;

• accept a letter of resignation from Learning Support Services secretary Colleen Robinson;

• offer classified paraeducator positions to Jennifer Clevenger and Samantha Minor;

• offer a classified Building Assessment & Technical Support position to Jennifer Thompson;

• approved overnight travel for the Sequim High School wrestling team to participate in a wrestling tournament in Blaine, Dec. 12-13;

• approved overnight travel for Sequim High School’s boys basketball team to participate in basketball games in the Seattle area, Dec. 28-31.
