John Bridge shares his passion for the Olympic Mountains in session 3 of the “Outdoor Fanatics” series at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, at the Dungeness River Audubon at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.

Bridge will speak to where he goes, why he goes and some of the equipment that enables him to go to special places he has hiked the Olympics since moving from Maryland 42 years ago.

Raised as a birder and a canoeist, Bridge said he now enjoys everything about the outdoors and the Sequim community. After working at Battelle Marine Laboratory for 10 years, he taught at Helen Haller Elementary School for 20 years.

Retirement has given him the time to keep an eye on the mountains by hiking, paddling and biking.

The “Outdoor Fanatics” series, sponsored by Columbia Bank of Sequim, kicks off the River Center Rally, an annual activities-based fundraiser that runs through May. Admission to each Outdoor Fanatics presentation is by donation.

The series and the River Center Rally raise funds to help support educational programs of the Dungeness River Audubon Center and maintain Railroad Bridge Park.
