Brinnon woman airlifted after Tuesday wreck east of Sequim

A Brinnon woman was airlifted to Seattle on Tuesday, March 5, after her car collided with a semi-truck east of Sequim.

Washington State Patrol reports that Susan Posner, 35, of Brinnon, was driving west at 4:30 p.m. March 5 on U.S. Highway 101 near Palo Alto Road in a 2007 Ford Focus when she pulled to the shoulder to attempt a U-turn.

While turning to go east, Posner was struck by a semi-truck driven by a Nina Brown who was traveling west.

Clallam County Fire District 3 staff report the truck “T-boned” the car and went more than 18 inches into the car’s driver’s side door.

Firefighters extricated Posner within 10 minutes of the wreck, Battalion Chief Elliott Jones said.

The car came to rest in the westbound lane and the semi-truck between the two highway lanes with the Ford Focus totaled, State Patrol reports.

Posner was flown to Harborview Medical Center for her injuries, and staff reports she is in serious condition in the intensive care unit (ICU) as of Wednesday, March 6.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and Brown was uninjured, State Patrol reports.

An initial accident report from the State Patrol did not indicate where Brown resides.

U.S. Highway 101 was fully reopened at 7 p.m.
