A water main east of Clallam PUD’s Carlsborg campus broke on Wednesday morning leaving many in the area without water.

Nicole Hartman, PUD communications manager, said the water main broke sometime between 11:30 a.m.-noon on May 10 along the 100 block of Hooker Road.

The outage impacts 199 PUD water customers with low to no water pressure north of US Highway 101, and east of Hooker Road on the south side of the highway, she reports.

Crews were onsite early Wednesday afternoon “attempting to implement a workaround to bring as many customers back into service as possible until repairs can be completed,” she wrote on the PUD’s website.

The cause of the break is still to be determined as of Wednesday afternoon, she said in an interview.

At 1:45 p.m., Hartman reported crews owere able to control the water main break and they plan to bring some customers back in service before repairs are complete.

An update will go out around 2:45 p.m. once some customers have returned to service, she said, however some customers will be out for the duration of the repair.

The grassy area where the main broke used to be the PUD’s septic field before the agency connected to the Carlsborg Sewer line, Hartman said.
