Sequim, hosts a holiday open house Nov. 28-30, which includes a large variety of living Christmas trees, several decorated trees with ornaments available and many gift items. Hot cider, cookies, and fudge will be on hand.

The center will donate 10 percent of all sales during the open house to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula. The center’s hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

The Incubator@Lincoln Center has enlarged its board of directors with two private sector entrepreneurs: Edna Petersen, owner of Necessities and Temptations, and Matt Ferrin, partner and chief investment strategist with Advocate Wealth Management. The board guides the program and promotes entrepreneurship on the North Olympic Peninsula. Petersen has been an active supporter and investor of businesses and entrepreneurs in the community, a Port Angeles City Council member and real estate agent. Ferrin is a CFA charterholder.

Clallam Transit System set its biggest one-month gain in fixed-route ridership in September.

Monthly fixed-route ridership totaled 82,511, compared to 62,821 for the same month one year ago, a 31.34 percent increase in ridership.

Through the end of September, CTS recorded 757,832 fixed-route transit boardings this year.

Compared to 669,330 boardings a year ago, the total so far reflects a year-to-date 13.22 percent increase in usage.

Dale Holiday, Port Angeles, is the newest member of North Olympic Land Trust’s board of directors. She is an associate planner with Clallam County and also leads workshops for businesses, organizations and individuals on team building and effective communication. She has taught in Western Washington University’s Huxley College of the Environment, Antioch University’s Seattle campus and Chapman University’s Fort Lewis campus masters program in organizational leadership. She recently was selected to participate in the PEAK Leadership Program sponsored by Team Jefferson County and the Peninsula College Foundation.

Sue Ackerman has been promoted to branch manager at First Federal’s Sixth Street location in Port Angeles. She succeeds JoAnne Pinnell, who recently retired after 40 years with First Federal. Ackerman most recently served as the customer service manager at the downtown branch. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the banking industry, the last six with First Federal.

Jim Lidback recently was appointed inventory control coordinator at Hartnagel Building Supply. Lidback joined the company in June 2007. He previously was responsible for retail sales and special order receiving. Lidback is also the safety program coordinator and serves as chairman of the employee ownership committee for Hartnagel’s parent company, Lumber Traders Inc.

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will begin accepting grant applications Dec. 1 from individuals and groups seeking financial support for volunteer projects that benefit fish and wildlife. Offered through the Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account Volunteer Cooperative Grant Program, the grants provide cost reimbursement for volunteer-driven projects that protect and enhance fish and wildlife, and their habitats, improve access to the outdoors, collect and disseminate fish and wildlife science, and educate the public about resource conservation. Project types include habitat restoration, research, education and outreach, facility development and artificial production. Awarded grants will support project activity occurring between July 1, 2009, and June 30, 2011. Applications must be received by Feb. 28, 2009. Cathy Wilson, proprietor of Sequim Bay Merchants located in downtown Sequim and Sunset Marine Resort on Sequim Bay, has partnered with Special Needs Advocacy Parents (SNAP) in an entrepreneurial training program for artists with developmental disabilities. The partnership will open the doors at 149 W. Washington St. on Friday, Nov. 28.

Donna Pacheco has joined Lumber Traders Inc. as the new advertising and promotions coordinator. Pacheco’s background is in publishing, printing and marketing. She was most recently art department manager at Olympic Printers. Pacheco will be responsible for promoting The Showcase, Angeles Millwork & Lumber Co. and Hartnagel Building Supply, including the new hardscapes division, The Quarry.

Joella Cary of McComb Gardens has passed the Washington state certified professional horticulturist’s exam. The exam consists of three parts: plant identification, landscaping and basic horticulture. Upon completion of 2,000 hours of apprenticeship, she will receive her certification. She will be one of the six CPHs at the nursery. For information, call 681-2827.
