Author Dodie Sparks will sign copies of her children’s book "Spring ABCs" from 9-11:30 a.m. July 18 at Starbucks, 1095 W. Washington St., Sequim.
The book is a poem that features works depicting "spring" for each letter of the alphabet.
Reproductions of Port Angeles resident Bob Thompson’s original oil paintings accompany each letter of the alphabet.
"Never Too Old To Chase A Dream," a book offering insight into writing memoirs, will be previewed at the event.

Business workshop offered
The Port Angeles office of the Washington State Department of Revenue hosts a free workshop for new and small business owners from 9 a.m.-noon July 21 at the Port of Port Angeles Building, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.
Participants learn about Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements.
Participants can ask questions specific to their businesses and receive a work
book and reference guide to department rules and regulations.

National Park Service solicits concession contract proposals
The National Park Service has issued a solicitation and prospectus for proposals for a new concession contract to provide visitor services for the next 10 years at the Lake Crescent Lodge, Fairholm Store and Hurricane Ridge within Olympic National Park.
These services include overnight accommodations, food and beverage, retail, fuel and rentals.

Daily seaplane
service continues
Kenmore Air continues daily seaplane service between Seattle and the Jefferson County communities of Port Hadlock and Port Ludlow through Sept. 8.
Originally offered on a temporary basis during the Hood Canal bridge closure, the airline extended the service to gauge post-closure demand for air service.
Two flights a day are available.
Fares are $65 each way, with Web specials on selected flights of $39 each way.
A round-trip within a single calendar day is available for $105.
The airline offers complimentary shuttle connections between Lake Union and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for passengers with connecting flights.

Kindryn Domning, also known as the Floral Guru, is creating floral designs for weddings or special events at The Cutting Garden, 303 Dahlia Llama Lane, Sequim.

Born and raised on the peninsula, she graduated from the Floral Design Institute of Seattle in basic and advanced floral design in 1999.
She has worked in the floral industry for 16 years, most recently as the owner and head designer of Avant Garde, which she sold in September 2008.
