First Federal has hired Larry Hueth as the association’s asset liability manager/treasurer. Hueth began his duties in early December.

Hueth’s duties include forecasting asset and liability sensitivity, recommendations on pricing and portfolio changes to ensure stability of earnings and managing First Federal’s investment portfolio.

He brings 23 years of banking and accounting experience to his new position.

First Federal has been serving North Olympic Peninsula families and businesses for more that 80 years.

Olympic Community Action Programs, OlyCAP, received a second anonymous donation of $100,000 to its capital campaign in December.

The donation brings the total of received and pledged amounts to just over $445,000, more than half way to OlyCAP’s goal of $700,000.

OlyCAP, a nonprofit community services agency, integrates programs that assist low-income individuals and families.

OlyCAP administers programs supporting families throughout Jefferson and Clallam counties, including Meals on Wheels, Head Start and Early Childhood Education Assistance, emergency services, home care services, the Encore! Adult Day Care Center in Port Angeles, home weatherization and housing rehabilitation.

Live Bread Shoppe and Common Sense Wellness Center offers community classes with Sherry Fry, nutritional therapy practitioner. A free class on overcoming "tummy upset," inability to sleep and aches, pains and stress is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the First Federal conference room on Washington Street.

A "grocery shopping tour" class on selecting for best quality, health and price is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Sunny Farms Country Store. $15 per person.
