Evening with Dorothea Hover-Kramer
The Intuitive Circle presents "An Evening with Dorothea Hover-Kramer" 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at the Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, 73 Howe Road, off North Barr Road. Hover-Kramer has been a psychotherapist for more than 30 years and combines her career as a psychologist with a background as a clinical nurse specialist.
She cofounded the International Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology, served as president and was instrumental in designing and implementing its certification program.
She is a designated diplomate in comprehensive energy psychology.
The cost is $5, but no one will be turned away.

Grants awarded
Dr. Marsha Melnick, her colleagues at the University of California – San Francisco School of Nursing, and California-based games developer Red Hill Studios, received two grants to continue development, production and testing of computer-based physical therapy games for patients with Parkinson’s disease and cerebral palsy.
The grants from National Institutes of Health total
$1.1 million.
Melnick treats patients with Parkinson’s disease at Therapeutics Associates in Sequim and Port Angeles.
She is a clinical professor in physical therapy at UCSF and professor emerita at San Francisco State University.
She will seek volunteer study participants on the Olympic Peninsula.

Jan’s Country Garden
Jan’s Country Garden opens for the season from
10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at 344 O’Brien Road, Port Angeles.
Customers are asked to pick up their dahlia orders at this time. The garden will be open Wednesdays-Saturdays through April 28, closed April 29-May 1.
Dahlia tubers also will be available for purchase for $3 each. Vegetable starts, seedlings and herbs can be purchased beginning the first week of May.

Past two-time National Housing Quality Award winner Kevin Estes will be among 29 home builders, remodelers and housing consultants seated on the National Housing Quality Executive Council.
Estes is president and chief executive officer of Estes Builders LLC, which has designed and constructed custom homes in Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend and Port Ludlow since 1989.
The company is a North Peninsula Building Association Built Green member and Energy Star partner.

Lazelle commissioned
The Nature Conservancy of Washington commissioned Olympic Peninsula nature photographer Keith Lazelle of Port Townsend to photograph Fisher Slough, a tidally influenced wetland.
The conservancy is restoring 60 acres of marsh habitat and fish passage throughout the slough with funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Lead renovator training
North Peninsula Building Association offers Environmental Protection Agency certified lead renovator training from 8 a.m.-
5 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at the Vern Burton meeting room, at the Vern Burton Center, 321 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles.
The eight-hour class includes two hours of hands-on training. Both firm and certified renovator certifications are valid for five years.

JACE The Real Estate Company begins a free live real estate sales course at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 22, in the community center at 933 E. First St., Port Angeles.
Classes supplement state-required online courses for a real estate license.
More additional free career planning classes are planned at the Port Angeles office and JACE Real Estate School, 761 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.
Topics include business planning, commissions, working with consumers and 20 questions that help determine if real estate sales is the right career.
Cost and the number of class clock-hours for Washington-ians to obtain a real estate license is set to increase on July 1.
